LTC2978CUP#PBF is an 8-channel PMBus power system manager. Its main functions are as follows:
• Power Monitoring: It can monitor the voltage and current of 8 output channels and one input, with a differential input 15-bit ΔΣ ADC and a total unadjusted error of ±0.25%. It can detect overvoltage (OV) and undervoltage (UV) conditions, and set warning and fault OV/UV thresholds for each channel.
• Power Sequencing: It supports programmable power-on and power-off sequencing to ensure that each power supply in the system is turned on and off in a specific order to avoid interference and damage between different power supplies.
• Fault Management: It has programmable fault response capabilities. After a fault occurs, power consumption can be disabled with optional retry. It can also support multi-channel fault management, quickly identify the faulty channel and take corresponding measures.
• Margin Control: It provides margin control function, which can adjust the output voltage of the power supply within a certain range to meet different application requirements and improve the stability and reliability of the system.
• Watchdog Timer: It is equipped with a watchdog timer to monitor the activity of the microprocessor. When the microprocessor is in a stalled state, it can be reset in time to ensure the normal operation of the system.
• PMBus Communication: It communicates through the PMBus protocol, which can exchange data with the host controller or other devices to realize functions such as parameter setting, status query and remote control. Programmable parameters can be stored in EEPROM.
