Temperature Monitoring Functions
Multi-channel Monitoring: It can monitor up to 10 remote temperature sensors at most. It is capable of interpreting temperature sensors like TMP05/TMP06 and transmitting the detected values via the I2C bus, enabling a comprehensive understanding of the temperature conditions at different positions within the system.
High-precision Measurement: The temperature detection accuracy can reach ±0.25 °C, which can provide accurate temperature data for the system and is suitable for scenarios with high requirements for temperature control.
Comparison and Alarm: It can compare the monitored temperature values with preset limits. When the temperature exceeds the set range, it can trigger corresponding alarm mechanisms to promptly notify the system to take measures.
Fan Control and Monitoring Functions
Independent Control of Multiple Fans: It can independently monitor and control the speeds of 4 fans. Through software control, the PWM output is used to drive each fan, enabling the fans to operate at the lowest speed to reduce noise. Meanwhile, the fan speeds can be flexibly adjusted according to the heat dissipation requirements at different positions of the system.
Full-speed Control: It has a FULL_SPEED pin. Through external hardware control, this pin can make the fans maintain a 100% speed under extremely hot conditions or during the system startup process, ensuring maximum heat dissipation capacity at critical times.
Fault Handling: When a fan malfunctions or its speed is lower than the normal range, it can report error conditions such as under-speed and fan failure to the system service processor through the SMBALERT interrupt. It can also read individual error conditions from the status register via the I2C bus. Moreover, when a fan failure is detected, the PWM output can be automatically adjusted to 100% speed to provide sufficient anti-fault cooling.
Interface and Communication Functions
I2C and SMBus Interfaces: It directly interfaces with the I2C bus and is compatible with the SMBus protocol, facilitating communication with various microcontrollers and other digital devices to realize data transmission and the reception of control commands.
Support for Multiple Device Connections: It has a tri-state ADDR pin, which allows up to 3 devices to be connected on the same bus, increasing the flexibility of system design and meeting the needs of multiple temperature and fan control requirements in complex systems.
